A worldwide event power distributor came to ide Systems with a requirement for a non-industry standard product. The issue revolved around emergency lighting and exit lighting for an annual major UK festival. BS 5266 states the regulations with regard to emergency lighting and it’s uses. Our clients problem was to obtain a cost effective, robust, reusable emergency exit sign to use within a large arena while conforming to the British Standard.
ide Systems design engineers used CAD and set about the task of creating a product to fit the role. This started with obtaining the existing BS emergency exit illuminated sign and finding a robust framework to protect the unit. By using Polyethylene we could manufacture a fully welded base board construct, which dimensional extremities extruded the confines of the exit light giving the advantage of all round protection in the case of impact. The polyethylene back board allowed us to advance further and add primary and secondary safety fixings, a carry handle and cable stowage to keep the electrical fixings within the back board profile.
To achieve a similar unit but on a larger scale, we met with our experienced steel fabricators, decal manufacturers and lighting suppliers to complete our own large size emergency exit sign meeting BS 5266. After a tweak of the design, we had a polyethylene back board to meet those size requirements. Once the client was happy after reviewing the design, parts acquisition could begin.
On receipt of all the varied items our experienced manufacturing team set about completing the product and entire order. Finally once tested and certified, the items could be dispatched to the customer.
Once delivered our client and his team could install the products with ease, and with the additional ancillaries ordered the event was set up and execution went without hitch due to the confidence in ide Systems product.
Since, the client has once again approached ide Systems for an additional order of our Event Illuminated Emergency Exit Sign.
